The first 12" by Matt Black and Jonathan More, made in 1987 for themselves. The initial run was 500 white labels, carrying no label name — only the catalogue number BOOT 1. The title is a line lifted from the theme to the children's programme Howdy Doody. Around it sit dialogue from The Jungle Book, the drums from Funky Drummer and fragments from unrelated places, layered without hiding the seams. Assembled entirely from samples, it arrives a year before M|A|R|R|S and S'Express. The habit of treating a record as raw material rather than as finished work is, here, still newly found.
