Music Forecast

What we stock

We buy and sell records across jazz, funk, soul and disco through house, techno and experimental music. Moving between the obscure and the familiar, our selection is guided by the music itself and a DJ’s perspective rather than genre or period.

Part of our selection lies in finding connections between music from different periods, places and scenes.

Eras and pressings

The records span the 1950s to the 2020s, with the seventies, eighties, nineties and two-thousands carrying roughly equal weight. We stock both original pressings and reissues, without favouring a particular era.

Product pages document the pressing year, country and format. A note such as “1998 European pressing” identifies the edition through details we can establish about the copy.

Where the records come from

The US and the UK account for much of the stock, alongside Japan, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, Brazil and releases on Мелодия from the former USSR. Editions of the same music can differ by country and period; those details form part of each record’s description.

How we buy

We have handled more than 2,000 records, mostly used. When buying, we listen to familiar titles and records we are hearing for the first time with the same attention to the music itself.

Grading
We follow the Goldmine standard and grade the record, the sleeve and the obi separately. Between two grades we always take the lower one. We generally do not stock records graded G or below.
