Herbie Mann on Embryo in 1970, cut with the Muscle Shoals section in Alabama — David Hood on bass, Roger Hawkins on drums — and engineered by Jimmy Johnson and Marlin Greene, with Miroslav Vitous on bass and Bruno Carr on drums added. The flute runs over Southern rhythm on the near-seven-minute title track and on "Can You Dig It", and the B-side takes ten minutes to pull apart the Beatles' "Come Together". A jazz flute player working inside a soul operation, and a record long dug as rare groove.
