This is an unofficial 12-inch from 2004, where Radio Slave, led by Matt Edwards & Serge Santiago, boldly re-imagined Jay-Z's massive hit "Encore" for club play. It was released by Rekid, the label that put out many of Radio Slave's early edits and remixes.
While retaining the overwhelming presence of Jay-Z's rap, the original track was transformed into a powerful floor tool, incorporating house repetition and grooves. This killer rework from Radio Slave's early days brilliantly and forcefully connects hip-hop and underground house, epitomizing the mashup/bootleg culture of the early 2000s.
