Terry Riley recorded this score for Joël Santoni's film Les Yeux Fermés at the Strawberry Studio in the Château d'Hérouville in March and April 1972, with Igor Wakhévitch producing. "Journey From The Death Of A Friend" is eighteen and a half minutes of Riley at his Yamaha YC-45D organ, fed through a short tape delay and built up in real time. "Happy Ending" adds saxophone to electric piano and organ and lets the phrases circle through a longer delay. It sits as a bridge between A Rainbow In Curved Air and the later Persian Surgery Dervishes. The film never screened in the US and the LP was long out of print; this is the 1972 French Warner original.
