Angela was the studio project of Angela and Ingo Werner, a married couple from Rüsselsheim, Germany, who started working together in 1981. Ingo, classically trained and a veteran of the Krautrock scene, wrote his own polyrhythmic sequencer software and ran it alongside Wolfgang Palm's PPG Wave system. With performance artist Jyl Porch on lyrics and backing vocals, the group signed to EMI and released this four-track 12" in 1984. Dark Entries reissued it in 2019, remastered by George Horn and with the 7" B-side "Kites" added. Programmed lines meet live bass, drums, guitar and saxophone: "Fantasy" is sequencer-led electronic disco-pop, and the near seven-minute "I Gotta Little Love" lets the same machinery stretch out. Home-built Neue Deutsche Welle-era electronics, back in circulation.
