Edwin "Fast Eddie" Smith came up as a DJ on Chicago radio, on WGCI and WBMX, before turning to production; in 1988 he also helped name a genre with "Hip House". Acid Thunder, released that year on D.J. International, became one of his biggest records and is counted among the classics of Chicago acid house. Written with Peter Black, produced by label boss Rocky Jones and recorded at the label's own studio, the 12" is four takes on the same track by four Chicago hands: Joe Smooth's "Smooth Thunder", Rocky Jones's "Aa Aaacid", Eddie's own "Fast Thunder" and SuperCooper's "Tyrees". Original US pressing on D.J. International.
