Amazonia is a 1990 album by Spanish composer/producer Finis Africæ. Its central figure is Juan Alberto Arteche Guel, who was active during the period of musical liberation following the end of the Franco regime. This conceptual work, set in an imaginary Amazon, features an expansive soundscape that blends electronic and acoustic instruments. The spatial arrangements, influenced by the "Fourth World music" advocated by Jon Hassell and Brian Eno, intertwine with fluid, percussive developments to create a cinematic landscape. This album remains highly regarded today as the most mature expression of Guel's production.
