Released in 1979, "The Fin Du Monde" is the debut album by Soundforce, the band led by French singer-songwriter Gaya Becaud. Their synthesizer-driven sound, boldly crossing rock, funk, and disco, was exceptionally aggressive and experimental, even within the French scene of the '70s. "Viva La Dolce Vita," with its bouncy rhythms and pulsating synths, is a hidden gem of synth-disco/boogie. The collage and eccentricity reminiscent of Jean-Pierre Masiela are evident throughout, and tracks like the mad disco "The Fin Du Monde" and funk tracks with radical lyrics maintain a dangerous tension even today. This album stands out among the obscure French synth scene.
