Donald Byrd's 1963 album "A New Perspective". Inspired by his deep roots in gospel and Negro spirituality, the album features an eight-person mixed chorus, creating an awe-inspiring, soulful sound grounded in modern jazz. The album features appearances by famous jazz musicians such as Hank Mobley, Kenny Burrell, and Herbie Hancock, and was arranged by Byrd's close friend Duke Pearson. This album is said to be one of Byrd's most popular works, especially in black culture.
