A 2002 12-inch compilation of select tracks from For Children, released in 1970 by Finland's leading saxophonist/composer Eero Koivistoinen. This well-conceived project was released by Jazzpuu under license from Sähkö Recordings, a key hub for Finnish electronic music.
In addition to "Boots & Roots," which features sharp horns intertwined with electric piano and guitar, the B-side includes "Five Blue Tones," a spiritual/modal jazz track exceeding 12 minutes. The performances by elite Finnish jazz musicians such as Jukka Tolonen, Pekka Sarmanto, and Esko Rosnell are also breathtaking. This is an important early release from Jazzpuu that brilliantly connected the experimental spirit and powerful groove of Nordic jazz with the club generation.
