The Antique Blacks is one of the LPs that Sun Ra pressed in very limited quantities for sale at concerts and clubs, making the original quite rare. It is said to have been recorded based on a radio program broadcast at Temple University (Philadelphia) in 1974. As is the case with many of Sun Ra's self-produced releases on his Saturn label, this album is a mixture of various materials with little continuity or consistency. That's not a bug, it's a feature. The album contains cheerful jams ("Song No.1"), several songs, and many of Sonny's declarative (and inscrutable) sermons. It had been out of print for over 30 years. Reissue from the Art Yard label.
