The Antique Blacks is one of those LPs that Sun Ra pressed in very limited quantities for sale at concerts and clubs, making the original quite rare. It is said to have been recorded from a radio program broadcast at Temple University (Philadelphia) in 1974. Like many of Sun Ra's self-produced albums on his Saturn label, this album is a mix of various materials with little continuity or consistency. That's not a bug, it's a feature. The album contains cheerful jams ("Song No.1"), several songs, and many of Sunny's declarative (and enigmatic) sermons. It had been out of print for over 30 years. Reissued by Art Kindred Spirits label.
