Luis Paniagua, youngest brother of the early-music director Gregorio Paniagua, started Babia with Luis Delgado in 1982 as a rotating assembly whose line-up changed with each concert. Their only album, released on Guimbarda that year, centres on Luis and Eduardo Paniagua, Delgado and Jesús Greus, who between them play sitar, pipa, esraj, psaltery, recorders, darbuka, archlute, Portuguese guitar, synths and a rhythm programmer. North African and Indian folk forms are absorbed into a dry, airy atmosphere: "Toi Toy" brings drum machine and synth to the front, while "Misterio Del Entendimiento" builds a small, looping ensemble of kalimba and xylophone. Delgado would go on to Finis Africae and El Cometa De Madrid, and the record reads as an early sketch of that scene. Original 1982 pressing.
