Conrad Setó, born in Montblanc in 1958, trained at the conservatory and the Liceu in Barcelona and founded the contemporary chamber group Tanit in 1976 before going on to a long career as composer, arranger and accompanist for Lluís Llach, Marina Rossell and others. Joc De Dames, a gatefold double LP on Música per a Anna, is reported to have won a Generalitat de Catalunya award for best record edition in 1986. Setó composed, arranged and directed it, with Carles Benavent on bass, Santi Picó on electric guitar and effects, Àngel Pereira on vibraphone and marimba, Javier Figuerola on sax and Pere Bardagí on violin. Each of its nineteen pieces carries a woman's name, from the three-part "Betsy" through the eight-minute "Diam" to "Anna": a portrait gallery in chamber-jazz form, and rarely seen.
