Edgar Froese recorded his first solo album in his West Berlin studio between November 1973 and March 1974, and Virgin released it in June 1974, four months after Tangerine Dream's Phaedra. The seventeen-minute title piece begins with water running from a tap in his apartment and dissolves into bubbling textures and electronic spirals. "NGC 891", named after a spiral galaxy and featuring Christopher Franke on Moog, moves from abstraction through an oboe-like synth melody into a sequencer pulse, with a few effects captured on a binaural dummy-head system. "Panorphelia" and "Upland" are built on droning Mellotron and church-like organ. This is the original UK gatefold, carrying Virgin's mix — the German Brain edition used a different one.
