A 2002 12-inch featuring selected tracks from "For Children," released in 1970 by Eero Koivistoinen, Finland's leading saxophonist and composer. This well-conceived release was issued by Jazzpuu under license from Sähkö Recordings, a key hub for Finnish electronic music.
In addition to "Boots & Roots," where sharp horns, electric piano, and guitar intertwine, side B includes the over 12-minute spiritual/modal jazz track "Five Blue Tones." The performances by Finnish jazz luminaries such as Jukka Tolonen, Pekka Sarmanto, and Esko Rosnell are also outstanding. This is an important early release from Jazzpuu that brilliantly connected the experimental spirit and powerful grooves of Nordic jazz with the club generation.
