This is the 1995 self-titled album where Femi Kuti, the eldest son of Afrobeat founder Fela Kuti, fully established his own style. At its core are the robust polyrhythms and horn sections inherited from his father, updated with a more compact and modern funk/jazz sensibility, defining a new generation of Afrobeat.
It features many lengthy tracks, including the striking "Wonder Wonder" with its driving horns and repeating grooves, as well as "Survival," "Frustrations," and "Plenty Nonsense."
