“Amazonia” is a 1990 work by Spanish composer/producer Finis Africæ. The central figure is Juan Alberto Arteche Guel, who was active during the period of musical liberation following the end of the Franco regime. This is a conceptual work set in an imaginary Amazon, characterized by expansive soundscapes that blend electronic and acoustic instruments. It features spatial arrangements influenced by the "Fourth World Music" advocated by Jon Hassell and Brian Eno, intertwined with fluid and percussive developments that paint vivid sonic imagery. The album is still highly regarded today as a culmination of Guel's production at its most mature.
