New Orleans-born alto saxophonist Noah Howard recorded this quartet on stages across Europe in 1975, and Paris's Sun Records issued it the same year. Takashi Kako is on piano, Kent Carter on bass, Muhammad Ali on drums (Oliver Johnson on "Olé"). Moving away from the avant-garde of his '60s records, Howard plays long, deeply spiritual lines closer to Pharoah Sanders: "Creole Girl" runs eleven minutes, Coltrane's "Olé" is stretched to twelve, and "Lift Every Voice And Sing" is played with a searing edge. French pressing.
