Phyrework was a seven-member funk/soul band from Houston, Texas, active in the late 1970s. This album (1978) is their only one, but it is a highly accomplished work, ranging from light dance numbers to mellow grooves. In particular, the latter half of the album features a string of moving tracks, such as the fusion-inspired mellowness of "Fly Away," the comfortable Latin-tinged sway of "Make It Last," and the cool, mellow mid-tempo of "Dance With Me." This is a hidden gem that we also recommend to Con Funk Shun fans.
