Released in 1978, "Disco Shitân" is an unconventional work by the French-based project Shitân. It incorporates Middle Eastern melodies and phrases reminiscent of Arabic music, boldly blending them with the disco/funk rhythms and synthesizers of the time. The track is characterized by its exotic scales and repetitive grooves, forming an oriental-tinged disco sound. It's an interesting example of cross-cultural production in Europe in the late 70s, a work with an experimental quality that transcends the boundaries of disco. It was later re-evaluated in the context of obscure disco/world disco.
